Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic

The Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic at Franciscan Children’s works with patients with acquired (through injury or illness) or congenital (birth defects, physical disabilities or abnormalities) conditions to improve or restore function and minimize impairment in their daily life. Our holistic approach, combined with family-centered care, aims to optimize function across our care continuum and into the community. Our experts promote active participation of the patient and family/caregiver through the evaluation, diagnosis and management phases of each patient’s journey. We champion the transdisciplinary approach, providing evidence-based and goal-directed care across all programs and services. This approach extends beyond the medical system to partner with education, social and community programs. Our practice creates value for the patient and family/caregiver by improving outcomes for physical and cognitive function, including more effective communication about prognosis, reducing condition specific complications and utilizing best practices and technologies.

Our Therapy teams consist of physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists who provide one-on-one services to patients ages birth to 21. Our teams work tirelessly to enhance the lives of each child and adolescent who comes to us for treatment, focusing on personalized treatment plans to improve mobility, function, sensory processing, feeding issues and overall quality of life.

Our family-centered approach is at the core of all our services. We recognize that parents and caregivers are essential partners in their child’s progress.
