The Dental Department at Franciscan Children's offers comprehensive oral health care for individuals up to 21 years of age.

With our Pediatric Dental Clinic and Surgical Services Department, we provide personalized care plans tailored to each patient's specific needs. Our expertise extends to patients with complex dental, medical, developmental, and behavioral concerns.

Pediatric Dental Clinic Hours

Monday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday - 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Thursday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Orthodontic Clinic Hours*

Alternating Wednesdays - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

*Limited to patients with special health care needs

Comprehensive Pediatric Dental Care

Our state-of-the-art nine-chair clinic offers the opportunity for establishing a dental home where we provide outpatient routine dental procedures and offer a comprehensive, seamless experience to our patients and families.

Emergency Dental Care

Emergency services are available during regular clinic hours. Please call ahead for appointments. Walk-ins are currently not accepted.

Established patients can access emergency care outside regular office hours.

Emergencies Covered for Established Patients

An on-call dental resident is available for the following emergencies:

  • Severe tooth/mouth pain
  • Swelling around teeth, mouth or face
  • Fever with possible dental origin
  • Dental trauma
  • Post-op concerns

About our Dental Clinic

Expertise in Complex Cases

We specialize in managing intricate cases, including:

  • Early childhood decay in infants and young children
  • Dental disorders like enamel hypoplasia, amelogenesis, and dentinogenesis imperfecta
  • Developmental and behavioral conditions including autism, cerebral palsy, attention deficit disorder, down syndrome, ectodermal dysplasia
  • Medical conditions including seizure disorders, heart disease, diabetes, malignancy, and blood disorders

For patients requiring extra support, we offer advanced behavioral guidance options including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, or general anesthesia.

To ensure comprehensive care, we collaborate closely with various specialty departments from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Referral Process

If referred, we ask that you request your referring office email a referral letter with radiographs to Dental-admin@franciscanchildrens.org.

Advanced Education Program

Dental Services

We collaborate with Boston University for clinical training. Postgraduate residents gain experience in our outpatient clinic and operating room, supervised by Boston University faculty.

Boston University dental students observe clinical activities and perform basic procedures, like tooth cleaning and sealants, under faculty supervision. This opportunity nurtures their path toward becoming pediatric dentists.
