The Patient Accounts Department at Franciscan Children’s is available to assist patients and families with any insurance or customer billing needs. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Franciscan Children’s is a participating provider in both the Medicare and Medicaid insurance programs, as well as Massachusetts Blue Cross Blue Shield and the majority of HMO and Commercial plans.  We also work with non-participating insurance plans on a case-by-case basis to ensure that all of our patients’ financial needs are adequately met.

As a nonprofit corporation committed to providing services to all pediatric patients in need of specialized healthcare, Franciscan Children’s has a Financial Assistance Policy that aims to decrease the stress and burden associated with the cost of healthcare needs to patients and families with a demonstrated financial need.

The Patient Accounts Department at Franciscan Children’s is happy to provide the following assistance:

• Review and evaluate your bill from Franciscan Children’s
• Review and evaluate itemized bills
• Provide an insurance benefit review, including evaluation and coordination of benefits
• Financial Assistance. Patients and families can apply for financial assistance through Franciscan Children’s for scheduled services (form will be attached to your bill)
• Obtaining secondary insurance through Mass Health’s Office of Disability

Mass Health as a secondary policy through the Office of Disability

Families that meet the Massachusetts residency requirements may qualify for Mass Health as a secondary insurance policy. Patient’s whose medical and behavioral health diagnosis meet the criteria of disability through the state of Massachusetts can apply. Secondary Mass Health coverage assists with medical bills. Doctors who accept Mass Health can submit any patient responsibilities for payment.

Financial Assistance

Franciscan Children’s is a nonprofit corporation committed to providing services to all pediatric patients in need of specialized healthcare, so every kid can reach their fullest potential and live their best lives. To assist patients and families with a demonstrated financial need, Franciscan Children’s has a Financial Assistance Policy that aims to decrease the stress and burden associated with the cost of healthcare needs.

Financial assistance is available to uninsured US residents with a household income less than 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. If you qualify, you will not be billed more than the amount generally billed to patients with insurance coverage.

In order to determined eligibility you must:

• Apply for any government medical assistance program for which you may be eligible
• Complete, sign and date the Franciscan Children’s Financial Assistance Application (found below)
• Provide verification of all household income
• Return your completed application to the Financial Counseling Department
